Telling Minnesota’s Story Through Design: Radisson Blu Mall of America Unveils Complete Renovation of All 500 Guestrooms

PR Newswire

Three new design concepts, inspired by Minnesota’s waterways, mark the hotel’s most significant transformation since it opened in 2013.

BLOOMINGTON, Minn., Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Radisson Blu Mall of America today announced the completion of a full renovation across all 500 guestrooms and 13 floors. The project, four years in development and designed by global firm Baskervill, is the property’s most significant update since the hotel opened.

Renovated room

The renovation centers on three design concepts, Silver Bay, Shoreline, and The Confluence, each based on a different Minnesota waterway. Curved lines, layered textures, and natural materials run through every guestroom, reflecting the lakes and rivers that shape the state.

“This renovation is about more than refreshed guestrooms. It reflects who we are and the experience we want to create,” said Kate Anastasi, Area Director of Sales and Marketing at Radisson Blu Mall of America. “Whether guests are traveling from across town or across the world, for business or leisure, we want them to feel connected to Minnesota from the moment they arrive. That sense of place is intentionally woven into every element of the design.”

A Thread Through the Whole Hotel

The renovation’s connection to Minnesota extends well beyond the renovated guestrooms, tying the new rooms to the spaces guests already know throughout the hotel. Meeting spaces carry the names of Minneapolis lakes, including the Minnetonka Ballroom, Nokomis Room, Cedar Room, Harriet Room, and Isles Boardroom. Reclaimed Minnesota barn wood appears in the property’s on-location restaurant, FireLake Grill House & Cocktail Bar, and a lobby rug patterned after an aerial view of the state’s lakes carries the theme from the moment guests walk in through to their room.

The same regional focus applies to the food and drink program at FireLake, which sources from local partners, including craft beer from Lift Bridge Brewing Co., meat from Red Table Meat Co. and dairy from Stickney Hill Dairy. The hotel is directly connected to the Mall of America and minutes from Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport, downtown Minneapolis, and the METRO Blue Line.

“As one of Choice Hotels’ flagship properties, the hotel represents what the brand can deliver at its best, so this renovation couldn’t be an average refresh. It had to set a new standard for what hospitality, and more specifically what Minnesota hospitality, looks like, and our team delivered on that,” said Alberto Abreu, General Manager of Radisson Blu Mall of America.

Growing Alongside Bloomington

The timing follows record demand for the region, with Minnesota drawing 82.5 million visitors in 20251 and Bloomington accounting for roughly 40 million of those visitors2. The renovation gives guests a reason to choose the Radisson Blu, with a stay designed specifically to reflect where they are, with local materials and local landmarks rooted in the experience.

“Seeing the Radisson Blu Mall of America make this kind of investment is great news for Bloomington,” said Mayor Tim Busse. “We’re proud to have a hotel of this caliber in our community, and these renovations will give visitors an even better experience when they come to Bloomington. It’s always encouraging to see businesses continue to invest in our community, and we appreciate the Radisson Blu Mall of America’s commitment to being a great part of Bloomington.”
