CHATHAM, NJ, UNITED STATES, August 31, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — NovaSpira Biotherapeutics today announced that the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of the Republic of Korea has approved the company’s updated Phase 1 clinical trial plan for NS‑342, enabling the start of its first‑in‑human study in patients with refractory advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and other GPC3‑expressing solid tumors.
“The approval of Phase 1 study plan by the MFDS marks an important milestone for NovaSpira and for patients with advanced HCC who urgently need new therapeutic options,” said Han Li, Ph.D., CEO of NovaSpira Biotherapeutics. “Refractory HCC remains one of the most challenging solid tumors globally, with limited efficacy from existing systemic therapies and poor long term survival. NS 342 is a next generation GPC3x4-1BB bispecific designed to improve tumor specificity and safety in difficult to treat solid tumors. The Phase 1 study will evaluate safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and preliminary clinical activity in patients with advanced HCC and other GPC3‑expressing malignancies.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains a major global health challenge, ranking as the third leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide.
