SmartMoving, the leading operations platform for residential, commercial, long-distance, storage, and military movers across the United States and Canada, powering more than 2,200 moving operations, today announced the general availability of TOB-E, the moving industry’s first AI assistant built specifically for day-to-day moving operations. TOB-E helps moving companies get answers about their business in plain English, identify issues before they become costly problems, and take action faster.
Unlike general-purpose AI tools, TOB-E works directly with a company’s live SmartMoving data to answer operational questions, surface issues that need attention, and provide recommendations based on what’s happening across the business. Owners control who has access and can enable TOB-E across their organization.
Until now, nearly every AI product in moving software has focused on sales: voice agents that answer calls, copilots that coach reps. SmartMoving offers this through its Smart Scout AI agent as well, but no other solution today reaches the operational side, where the day is actually run. TOB-E changes that by proactively reviewing a company’s live operational data and surfacing what needs attention every morning, with no report to pull.
“For the first time, a moving company owner can start the day with the whole operation already analyzed for them, and everything that needs attention surfaced and ready to act on,” said Bill Bowles, CEO of SmartMoving. “No one has put AI to work on the operations side of a moving company before. That is a real shift in how we can help you run your business, and we are making it free for every customer.”
TOB-E’s flagship feature, the Morning Briefing, arrives each morning before the owner logs in, laying out the day’s jobs and revenue, crew confirmations, unpublished jobs, and overdue follow-ups. The owner, and anyone they authorize, can ask questions about the business in plain English and get answers from their own data in seconds. With a single approval, it can also resend crew and customer confirmations or publish jobs.. It answers only what it can verify and says so when it doesn’t have the data.
“For years I sat with moving company owners and watched them start every morning the same way, clicking through one screen after another just to figure out what needed their attention. The data was never the problem. Having the time to pull it together was,” said Matt Honeycutt, co-founder and CTO of SmartMoving. “We built TOB-E to turn that around, so the business comes to the owner instead of the owner going to hunt for it. And we are just getting started. What it does today is a glimpse of where we are taking it, from AI-assisted dispatch to capabilities we have not announced yet, and I cannot wait for movers to see what comes next.”
Named after SmartMoving founder Tobe Thompson, TOB-E is built on more than 12 years of experience serving the moving industry through the SmartMoving platform. It became generally available following an exclusive early-access period with a select group of customers, including Trailblazer Moving and Storage.
“Running three locations, I’m always in the numbers, and TOB-E gets me there fast. Instead of pulling reports and piecing it together myself, I just ask for what I need, like our top referral sources week over week or how revenue is tracking month over month, and it’s right there. It’s a real time saver, and it helps our team make faster, better decisions,” said Jake Wakely, CEO of Trailblazer Moving and Storage.
