Kin Welcomes AI Insurance Shopping: Muse Can Shop on Kin.com
PR Newswire
CHICAGO, Sept. 30, 2026
CHICAGO, Sept. 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — As some insurance companies and marketplaces move to block AI shopping agents, Kin is taking a different approach. Kin, the direct-to-consumer provider of insurance and home finance solutions for homeowners, today announced that it will allow consumers using Meta’s Muse AI agent and other AI agents to easily shop for insurance quotes through Kin’s digital experience.

“We’re not going to block Muse,” said Kin Founder and CEO Sean Harper. “AI agents are an important way people shop, including for insurance. Five years from now, it’s not hard to imagine AI agents being the dominant way people shop, just as the web is today. Kin will win the AI shopping experience.”
Today, many home insurers do not offer online quoting experiences, severely limiting potential growth with this new AI agent shopping experience. The emergence of AI shopping agents exposes more important differences between Kin and traditional insurance distribution models.
“When an AI agent can displace the work currently done by brokers and independent agents, it threatens the dominant business model the industry was built on, so it makes sense that both agencies and carriers with that business model are afraid of customers using AI agents to shop,” Harper said. “Kin, as the only purely direct-to-consumer home insurer, doesn’t care if the customer is shopping using a web browser or an AI agent. We welcome the additional traffic from customers using AI agents. That shift in shopping behavior is a huge opportunity.”
Kin expects AI agents to become increasingly capable of doing the tedious work traditionally required to shop for insurance: gathering information, entering it across multiple websites, comparing coverage, and helping consumers understand their options. Since Kin has nearly all the data about individual homes, AI agents can ask the homeowners fewer questions and ultimately retrieve quotes faster.
In Kin’s testing, Muse was able to retrieve customer home insurance quotes from Kin with only a handful of questions for the customer. With its streamlined digital experience, Kin makes it simple for customers to shop directly, or through their preferred AI agent.
“The customer should get to decide how they want to shop,” Harper said. “Our job is to make Kin easy to find, easy to understand and easy to buy, whether the shopper is a person or an AI agent working for that person.”
