Three generations of the Bryan family invite the community, alumni and families to a 50th anniversary celebration on Friday, November 6, 2026

Our father started The Beachcomber because someone once gave him a second chance. Fifty years later, we are still a family helping families.”

— Jim Bryan

DELRAY BEACH, FL, UNITED STATES, November 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Beachcomber Family Center for Addiction Recovery will mark its 50th anniversary with a celebration on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 1 to 4 p.m. at its residential campus, 4493 N. Ocean Blvd. in Delray Beach. Founded in 1976 by James Bryan and still owned and operated by the Bryan family, The Beachcomber is one of the oldest privately owned addiction treatment centers in Florida. Alumni, families, staff, community partners and neighbors are invited to join the family in honoring five decades of recovery by the sea.

A founder who knew the road to recovery
James Bryan opened The Beachcomber in 1976 after his own long struggle with alcoholism. Having found sobriety himself, he set out with one mission: to help people suffering from alcohol and drug addiction, and the families who love them, find the same peace and purpose he had found. What began as a small, intimate setting of beach cottages just steps from the Atlantic has grown into a full continuum of care across Palm Beach and Broward Counties. Today, The Beachcomber offers residential treatment in Delray Beach, along with partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and virtual outpatient programs in Boynton Beach and Fort Lauderdale. The center has been licensed by the State of Florida and accredited by The Joint Commission since 1978.

Fifty years, one family
What sets The Beachcomber apart is that it has never stopped being a family business. After James Bryan’s passing in 2005, his sons Frank and Jim Bryan took the helm and continue to lead the organization. The third generation is now part of the work as well: founder’s grandson Eric Bryan joined after graduating from Florida State University and serves as Assistant Director at the Fort Lauderdale location. That family spirit extends to every person who comes through the door. The Delray Beach residential program houses clients in eight beach cottages, offers about seven hours of therapy a day, and includes family sessions twice a week. Thousands of men and women have begun their sobriety at The Beachcomber, and many alumni return to speak, volunteer and mentor those just starting out. “Our father started The Beachcomber because someone once gave him a second chance. Fifty years later, we are still a family helping families, and once you are part of the Beachcomber family, you are always part of the family.”
